The Forward Problem Algorithm Based on Monte Carlo Method for Diffusion Optical Tomography

چکیده
In the medical field, abnormal tissues such as tumours or other foreign bodies often affect absorption coefficient in subcutaneous. First, photons are injected into skin, leading to diffusion behaviours, and then diffused light intensity on a specific location is measured. Next, foreign material distribution within the detection region is reconstructed by a specific weighting method for diagnosis. This study proposed a method of simulating photons’ behaviours in subcutaneous tissues to obtain the distribution of surface intensity. Also, with assumed source location and detection location, a specific weighting method is used to calculate foreign body distribution.

Models and Algorithms for Diffuse Optical Tomographic System
Diffuse optical tomography (DOT) using near-infrared (NIR) light is a promising tool for noninvasive imaging of deep tissue. The approach is capable of reconstructing the quantitative optical parameters (absorption coefficient and scattering coefficient) of a soft tissue. The motivation for reconstructing the optical property variation is that it and, in particular, the absorption coefficient v...
متن کاملThe Study of Variation of Photon Intensity Inside Biological Phantom by Green Theorem
The Image reconstruction is an important problem in optical tomography. The process of the image processing requires the study of photon migration in biological tissue. There are several approaches to study and simulate propagation of photons in biological tissues. These approaches are categorized into stochastic and analytical groups. The Monte Carlo method as a stochastic method is widely use...
متن کاملSiemens primus accelerator simulation using EGSnrc Monte Carlo code and gel dosimetry validation with optical computed tomography system by EGSnrc code
Monte Carlo method is the most accurate method for simulation of radiation therapy equipment. The linear accelerators (linac) are currently the most widely used machines in radiation therapy centers. Monte Carlo modeling of the Siemens Primus linear accelerator in 6 MeV beams was used. Square field size of 10 × 10 cm2 produced by the jaws was compared with TLD. Head simulation of Siemens accele...
متن کاملRadiance Monte-Carlo for application of the Radiative Transport Equation in the inverse problem of Diffuse Optical Tomography
We introduce a new Monte-Carlo technique to estimate the radiance distribution in a medium according to the radiative transport equation (RTE). We demonstrate how to form gradients of the forward model, and thus how to employ this technique as part of the inverse problem in Diffuse Optical Tomography (DOT). Use of the RTE over the more typical application of the diffusion approximation permits ...
متن کاملOptical tomographic imaging of activation of the infant auditory cortex using perturbation Monte Carlo with anatomical a priori information
We have developed a perturbation Monte Carlo method for calculating forward and inverse solutions to the optical tomography imaging problem in the presence of anatomical a priori information. The method uses frequency domain data. In the present work, we consider the problem of imaging hemodynamic changes due to brain activation in the infant brain. We test finite element method andMonte Carlo ...
